Brazil's COVID-19 death toll crosses 202,000 mark

Sao Paulo: Brazil reported 1,171 fresh corona death cases in the last 24 hours bringing death tally to 202,631 on Saturday In the last 24 hours, tests detected 62,290 new cases of infections, bringing the nationwide tally of confirmed cases to 8,075,998.

The state of Sao Paulo has been hardest hit by the virus, with 1,540,513 cases and 48,298 deaths. Brazil is undergoing a second wave of COVID-19 outbreak, with a marked increase in cases since December.

The global tally of coronavirus cases stands at 90,045,249. While 64,445,630 have recovered, 1,933,467 have lost their lives. Meanwhile, the US continues to be the worst-hit country with 22,690,426 cases.Brazil has the world's second-largest COVID-19 death toll, after the United States, and the third-largest outbreak, after the United States and India.India reported 18,645 fresh Covid-19 cases on Sunday pushing the overall tally to 10,450,284, according to Health Ministry. The death toll from the deadly infection jumped to 15o,999.
