Shimla: A bus accident in Himachal Pradesh has left four individuals in critical condition and eight with minor injuries on Saturday morning.
The Himachal Road Transport Corporation released a statement confirming the incident. The mishap occurred when a bus belonging to the Sundernagar unit, en route to Shimla, collided. The accident is attributed to road damage in the Mandi district.
Injured passengers have been swiftly transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment. Further updates are anticipated as the situation develops.
Simultaneously, the Shimla-Kalka road along National Highway-5 was closed due to a landslide in Solan district early Friday. This road had only recently reopened after a week of closure. Jagat Singh Negi, the Revenue and Horticulture Minister of Himachal Pradesh, communicated that more than 200 roads remain inaccessible and restoration efforts are ongoing.
"Due to heavy rainfall last night, the Kalka-Shimla road was also obstructed. Restoration efforts have enabled its opening for light vehicles. Presently, there are over 200 road closures in the state, alongside ongoing restoration work for more than 200 electricity supply schemes. Our dedicated teams and officers are actively engaged in the field," Negi reassured.
Yesterday, the regional meteorological department in Shimla issued a yellow alert, predicting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by possible thunderstorms in various parts of Himachal Pradesh.
