SHIV PURI - MADHYA PRADESH:  An Indian Air Force (IAF) Mirage 2000 fighter jet crashed near Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday, February 6. The aircraft was on a routine training mission. Both pilots ejected safely.

How Did the Crash Happen?

The fighter jet crashed around 2:20 pm in the Sunari police station area of Karaira tehsil, Shivpuri. Defense officials confirmed it was on a training flight. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to find out the cause. More details are awaited.

Pilots Safe

Both pilots survived but suffered minor injuries. After the crash, local authorities rushed to the site. Police also reached the spot quickly.

The aircraft came down in a field near Bahreta Sani village. Seeing the smoke, villagers ran to help. A crowd gathered, and the locals assisted the injured pilots.

Investigation Underway

The IAF confirmed the incident and assured that an investigation is in progress. Initial reports suggest there were no casualties on the ground.

The Mirage 2000 is a French-made fighter jet developed by Dassault Aviation. It is a single-engine, supersonic aircraft with a delta-wing design. The jet is known for its agility and advanced avionics.

Powered by a SNECMA M53-P2 engine, it can reach speeds of up to Mach 2.2 (2,336 km/h). The Mirage 2000 is a key part of the IAF’s fleet.
