IPL 2021: Kane Williamson replaces david warner as new captain of sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad have named New Zealand player Ken Williamson as the new captain of the team for the remaining matches of IPL 2021. The team was currently captained by Australian player David Warner. Sunrisers Hyderabad's performance this season is very poor. Hyderabad have lost five times in 6 matches. The team is at the bottom of the IPL points table. David Warner himself is struggling to score runs. Hyderabad have the option of England's explosive batsman Jason Roy. Jason Roy is likely to replace David Warner in the squad in the next few matches.

This has happened on several occasions before Warner was removed from the captaincy of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the middle season. Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik quit the captaincy due to ipl in UAE last year. KKR itself had tweeted about it. He did so before the match against Mumbai Indians. England's Ian Morgan was then named captain of the team in place of Karthik.

Earlier, the same thing has happened in the 2014 IPL. Even then, Sunrisers Hyderabad had removed Shikhar Dhawan from the captaincy in the middle season and handed over the reins of the team to West Indies' Darren Sammy. Something similar happened to former Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara captaining the Deccan Chargers in 2012. He had not only given up captaincy due to poor form. Infact, playing-11 had also dropped itself. So that Cameron White gets an opportunity to play.
