Breaking News: Mother, child die in metro pillar collapse in Bangalore

Bangalore: A woman and her two-and-a-half-year-old son died in Bangalore when an under-construction metro pillar collapsed. On the bike they were riding, the woman's husband also sustained injuries. The mother and her infant died in the hospital from their wounds.

The incident happened early on Tuesday in Nagavara, Bangalore. A metro railway pillar that was being constructed in the area, on the road from Kalyan Nagar to HRBR Layout collapsed on the road.

A man along with his wife and their son, who were moving on a bike on the road were injured in the incident. They were taken right away to the hospital. But the mother and the infant, who had already been hurt, passed away in the hospital. The deceased were identified as Tejaswi, 25, and Vihaan, her son.

The family was travelling to Hebbal with their son, said DCP East Bheemashankar S Guled. The bike's weight caused the subway pillar to collapse. The mother and son were riding in the backseat. They were sent to Altis hospital after suffering severe injuries. They succumbed in the hospital. The dead were identified as 25-year-old Tejaswi and her son, Vihaan.
