Mona, who made her acting debut with the popular TV serial ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin,’ has now moved beyond television. She has showcased her talent in OTT platforms and films, and five years ago, she married filmmaker Shyam Rajagopalan. Although Mona usually keeps her private life under wraps, her ex-boyfriend Karan Oberoi recently opened up about their 18-year-old relationship.
In an interview with a YouTube channel, Karan revealed that during the time of the serial ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin,’ he and Mona were dating. They worked together on the set for up to 18 hours a day. Spending so much time together, they became close friends, and eventually, their friendship blossomed into love. However, when Karan proposed marriage to Mona, she declined, leading to the end of their relationship. Karan mentioned that, at the time, he couldn’t understand why Mona broke up with him.
Eighteen years later, Karan reflected on their relationship and said he now understands why Mona turned down his marriage proposal. He acknowledged that due to ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin,’ Mona had become a national icon. People loved her acting, and she was advancing in her career. She wanted to focus more on her professional life rather than her personal life at that time. Karan also added that despite their breakup, there was no bitterness in their relationship.
