Mewat: The Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra, an annual event held in the month of Sawan, is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 22, 2024. This year, as in previous years, the yatra will see participation from officials of Hindu organizations, numerous sadhus, and saints. The event involves bringing Gangajal from Haridwar and performing abhishek (ritual bathing) at temples in Nuh, Punhana, and Ferozepur Jhirka in Haryana.

Last year, the yatra was marred by violence when a Muslim mob attacked it in the Mewat region, resulting in the deaths of six people. Following this violent incident, the administration has heightened its vigilance for this year's event. Lalit Bajrangi, the state student chief of Bajrang Dal Haryana, confirmed that the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra will be held on July 22. He shared a poster for the yatra, which begins with the slogan 'Jai Shri Ram.' The yatra will be a one-day event featuring abhishek at Nalhad Shiv Mandir in Mahabharata period, Jhir Mahadev Mandir in Firozpur Jhirka, and Radha Krishna Shringar Mandir in Punhana.

The poster describes the participation of saints and sages and urges the public to join the event. Preparations for the yatra have already begun, with saints and sages arriving from various regions. Rajkumar Garg, District President of Agrawal Mahasabha Nuh, mentioned that preparations for the yatra are underway, coinciding with the first day of Sawan.

The district's Deputy Commissioner and other administrative officials stated that they have not yet received a formal request for permission for the yatra. In 2023, the Brij Mandal Yatra in Nuh was violently attacked by a Muslim mob. The attackers, armed with deadly weapons, targeted both devotees and policemen. They also attempted to breach the Nalhad Shiva temple, set vehicles on fire, and attacked innocent villagers, including children studying in a Gurukul. The mob's actions caused widespread damage and distress in the area.

As the yatra approaches, security arrangements are expected to be intensified to prevent any recurrence of violence and ensure the safety of participants.
