In a painstaking search operation undertaken in the difficult territories in the hours of darkness, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police on Wednesday seized nearly 72 kg of Brown Sugar from Kamu in Thoubal district of Manipur. Acting on an intelligence input, the joint team of Assam Police and Manipur Police on Wednesday raided a distribution of hub of narcotic drugs.
From prima facie investigation, it has come to spotlight that taking advantage of the porous international border the consignment of Brown Sugar was smuggled in from Myanmar. Several international drugs smuggling networks are active in Manipur, and engaged in transhipping the consignments to different states in India.
