The husband has brutally murdered his wife on Tuesday morning. The case is from Bhatinda. The deceased has been identified as Binder Kaur. Police have registered a case of murder against accused husband Gurmeet Singh on the statement of the deceased's father Bhajan Singh and taken him into custody. Police rushed the body to civil hospital Bathinda.
Gurmeet Singh resident Bhai Bakhtaur reportedly worked as a labourer and was addicted to alcohol. There was always a quarrel between husband and wife. Fed up with the daily quarrel, wife Winder Kaur had moved to mother's village Sivia about 20 days ago. About 4 days ago, after the consent of the husband and wife in the panchayat, Winder Kaur had come to village Bhai Bakhtaur.
There was a noise in the house around 2.30pm on Monday. After which the neighbours also came home for help but there was nothing there. When everything went well, Winder Kaur fell asleep and the husband stabbed his sleeping wife in the throat with a sickle and killed her and locked her from outside and fled. The 17-year-old girl of the deceased was sleeping at her uncle's house when the incident took place. When she saw the door locked from outside the house in the morning, the family members and people nearby saw the woman's blood-soaked body lying on the bed.
Inspector Gurwinder Singh of Thana Kotfatta said the body has been shifted to civil hospital for postmortem. A case of murder has been registered against the accused Gurmeet Singh on the statement of the deceased's father Bhajan Singh. He said the accused has been arrested from near the village in the afternoon.
