Srinagar: A senior Border Security Force (BSF) official said a Pakistani intruder has been gunned down by the Border Security Force along the 200 km long international border in the Samba sector. "During the midnight of Wednesday and Thursday (2.35 pm), BSF jawans had spotted a Pakistani intruder near a border post," he said.

The official said, "The intruder had entered our area about 100 meters. He repeatedly ignored warnings by our soldiers to stop and fire later. His body is still lying there. However, no information has been received about the identity of the intruder. In a similar incident, BSF had gunned down a Pakistani intruder on the Indian border in the Ferozepur district of Punjab on the night of May 2 and 3.

A ceasefire was declared between India and Pakistan on the intervening night of February 24 to 25. After discussions between the Director Generals of Military Operations between India and Pakistan, the two sides agreed to stop firing along the Line of Control (LoC) and all other areas, but even then Pakistan continues to violate the ceasefire along the border.
