Punjab finally got a new chief minister. Charanjeet Singh Channi has been elected as the Chief Minister of Punjab today. Charanjeet Singh Channi has taken charge after taking oath though Congress remains the target of the opposition. In fact, BSP chief Mayawati has taken a dig after his coronation today. Mayawati held a press conference in Lucknow after Charanjeet Singh Channi was sworn in as part of recent information. Mayawati was the first to congratulate Charanjeet Singh Channi on being made CM.

She then said, "It is an electoral gimmick of the Congress to make Charanjeet Singh Channi the Chief Minister of Punjab for some time. The upcoming Punjab elections will be fought not under his leadership, but under the leadership of non-Dalits. This shows that Congress has not yet trusted Dalits.'' She also said, "The Congress has conspired in Punjab. The Congress is upset with our alliance in Punjab. It is under compulsion that Dalits are remembered. If Congress or Jawaharlal Nehru had done anything worthy of Baba Ambedkar, they would not have included him in framing the Constitution and Dalits would not have got legal rights. Muslims are not safe.''

Further, she also took dig at the BJP saying, "The BJP is showing love towards the OBC community shortly before the UP assembly elections. If there was honesty towards OBCs, they would have accepted the caste census. They are afraid of caste census. Dalits will not be misled by anyone who is too backward. Because what they got is because of Babasaheb Ambedkar.''
