Hyderabad: An engineering student from Hayathnagar was caught red-handed while filming a woman neighbor when she was taking a bath in her home. According to the police, an engineering student was caught by her woman's family member after she raised alarm on finding the mobile phone on the bathroom window at her house in Munaganur village of Turkayanjal mandal.

On Friday morning, the victim, aged about 30, was taking a bath in her house when she noticed a man on the wall beside her house. She found that he was filming her on a mobile phone and raised an alarm. The accused tried to escape from the place but locals caught him and thrashed him before calling the local police.

The man, identified as Gangapuri Venkatesh, was booked for outraging the modesty of a woman and taken into custody by the Hayathnagar police on Friday. Locals and family members thrashed him black and blue and handed over him to police. Based on the victim’s complaint, police registered a case against Venkatesh. In February 2019, an IIT student was held in Mumbai for allegedly filming people bathing. He has been charged under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code.
