NEW DELHI: The Union Budget 2022-23 allotted Rs 1,02,668 crore to the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Central Police Organizations (CPOs), an increase of 12.98 percent.

In 2021-22, the overall allocation for CAPFs and CPOs under the Ministry of Home Affairs was Rs 90,888.41 crore. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the largest CAPF or paramilitary force, which is responsible for internal security and is also deployed in Jammu and Kashmir for counter-terrorism, has been granted Rs 29,324.92 crore, up from Rs 27,307.42 crore the previous year.

The Border Security Force (BSF), which is deployed on Pakistan's and Bangladesh's borders and is also responsible for internal security in some regions of the nation, has been awarded Rs 22,718.45 crore, up from Rs 21,491.14 crore in 2021-22.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), which patrols the India-China border, received Rs 7,461.28 crore, up from Rs 6,965.02 crore in the previous budget.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is responsible for protecting important assets, government buildings, and numerous airports and metro networks, has been awarded Rs 12201.90 crore, up from Rs 11,372.54 crore in 2021-22.
