NEW DELHI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared on Tuesday that skilling programmes and partnerships with business will be reoriented to encourage continuous skilling channels, sustainability, and employability while delivering the Union Budget for the year 2022-23.

750 virtual laboratories and 75 skilling e-labs will be put up for simulated learning to link the national skill qualification framework with dynamic industry needs. "The DESH-Stack eportal, a Digital Ecosystem for Skilling and Livelihood, will be launched. Through online training, this portal aspires to empower citizens to skill up, reskill, or upskill "According to Sitharaman.

It will also offer API-based trustworthy skill certifications, payment, and discovery layers to help people locate appropriate employment and start businesses.  Startups will be encouraged to support 'Drone Shakti' through various applications and for 'Drone-as-a-Service' (DaaS) in certain ITIs across all states, according to the Minister.

Nirmala Sitharaman announced the establishment of a digital university to provide students across the country with world-class universal education and a tailored learning experience right at their doorstep.

This will be offered in a variety of Indian languages as well as ICT formats. The digital university will be constructed using a networked "hub-spoke" paradigm, with the hub developing cutting-edge ICT skills. As a network of hub-spokes, the country's leading public universities and institutes will collaborate.
