NEW DELHI: In light of the current state of the world economy, India’s budget will attempt to meet the optimism and aspirations of common citizens and be a ray of hope for the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.

Speaking to the media in advance of the Parliament's Budget Session, Modi asserted that respected voices in the economic community were bringing encouraging messages from all angles.

The budget, which will be unveiled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday, will aim to fulfill people's dreams and aspirations as well as raise expectations for India among foreign nations, the prime minister said.

''The ray of hope being witnessed by the world will glow brighter. For this, I strongly believe the finance minister will make all efforts to meet these aspirations,''  PM Modi said. He also noted that President Droupadi Murmu was delivering her prime address to the joint sitting of Parliament at the start of the Budget Session.

The President's speech is an opportunity to honour women and the rich tribal traditions of the nation as well as the Indian Constitution and parliamentary system.
