Chennai- Tamil Nadu: Two people have now died as a result of the building collapse on Mint Street in Chennai on Friday, according to police, who also confirmed the death of another person on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Shankar who passed away at Chennai Rajiv Gandhi Hospital.

On the city's NSC Bose Road last night, a section of a century-old structure collapsed, injuring passersby. Days of rain are said to have made the building fragile, which led to its collapse. The incident also harmed three more people. Fire services personnel reportedly helped to clear the debris and rescue the injured, according to Chennai police.

Initial reports indicated that one person had died and three others had been injured.

Fire service personnel assisted in both the rescue of the injured and the cleanup of the scene shortly after the tragedy.
