Kanpur:  Modi government may start the bullet train between Ahmedabad to Mumbai soon. The survey work for this government project has been completed. This train will run with the technology of IIT. this technology is given by IIT Kanpur scientist Prof. Bharat Lohani. The name of this technique is LIDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) which will prove to be very helpful. This technique will prove useful for many big works including preventing floods, finding the status of forests, surveying for highway projects.

Pro. Lohani has recently completed a 580-km survey between Ahmedabad-Mumbai for bullet train with his team through LIDAR. Now the High-Speed Rail Corporation has started preparing the blueprint for the bullet train. Pro. Lohani said that LIDAR is set under the chopper and then every position below, such as a river, farm, forest, is reported to the computer through the footage.

Until now there was a manual survey in the country. For example, 580 km. A geographical survey of the US would have taken at least two to three years. But the same work was completed through LIDAR in 17 to 18 days. It is also more reliable than earlier maps.

Prof. of Civil Engineering said that In 2009 a start-up was incubated in the IIT. Since then, this technique was being worked on. Will now work to prevent the effects of floods in Gorakhpur. This technique can prove to be of great help in eastern India where floods cause devastation every year.
