Star striker Timo Werner's 25th goal of the season helped RB Leipzig beat Cologne 4–2 in the 29th round match played in the German League Bundesliga. In this match on Monday, John Córdoba scored from the corner in the seventh minute and gave Cologne a 1-0 lead. However, Patik Schick, who came on loan from S Roma, scored a 20-minute goal to give Leipzig a 1-1 draw.

Leipzig then added 3–1 in the 38th minute with goals from Christopher Kunku and Timo Werner in the 50th minute. Cologne then tried to return to the match with a goal from Anthony Modeste in the 55th minute, but two minutes later Denny Olmo scored a goal to make Leipzig's lead 4-2. This was Olmo's first goal in the Bundesliga.

After this win, Leipzig's team is at number three in the table, while Cologne is at number 11. Cologne has suffered its 15th defeat of the season.
