Tehri: An elderly woman died after being hit by a bus going from Uttarkashi to Srinagar near Kandikhal Dabri village on Uttarkashi-Chamba road. The driver left the bus and escaped. The police started the search for the driver by taking the bus in custody at Kandikhal's station. On Sunday, a bus was going from Uttarkashi to Srinagar. At around 1'o clock in the afternoon, wife Dayaldi Devi (63), a resident of Dabri village, gave her hand to sit in a bus near Kandikhal.

Dayaldi Devi was going to Chamba to meet relatives. To stop and sit in the bus, the woman suddenly came in front of the bus and she fell on the road due to collision with the tire of the bus, died on the spot. The driver escaped leaving the bus after getting an opportunity. Police reached the spot on the information of Sajwan, the middleman of village Dabri-Kandikhal. The police sent 18 passengers on the bus to the destination by another bus and parked the bus in the station.

According to sources, Yashwant Singh, in-charge of Kandikhal post, said that so far no complaint has been given by the relatives of the deceased. A bus driver is being searched. The Panchnama of the deceased has been filled and sent to the District Hospital, Bouradi for postmortem.
