In Gujarat is that a bus conductor has suffered a loss of Rs 15 lakh for not paying a mere nine-rupee ticket to the passenger.

This is the case 16 years ago. According to report,  on July 5, 2003, a passenger bettor was found during a surprise inspection in a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation bus and the conductor of the bus was Chandrakant Patel. During the interrogation, the passenger had told the corporation officials that he had paid the ticket, though the conductor had not given him the ticket.

A departmental inquiry was launched by the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation against conductor Chandrakant Patel and Chandrakant was found guilty in the probe, after which the existing salary of Chandrakant Patel was reduced to two stages as punishment by the Transport Corporation. Where they will now have to pay Rs 15 lakh in their salaries. According to the Transport Corporation, Chandrakant Patel will now have to do the rest of his job on the same scale.
