Painful accident on Yamuna Expressway again, 29 killed, several injured

Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, 29 people were reported killed in a tragic road accident on the Yamuna Expressway near Agra on Monday morning. So far 27 bodies have been recovered and 15-16 persons injured in the accident have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment. As per the information received, the bus plunged into the 'Jharna Nala' on the expressway in Agra. The bus was reported to have been carrying 50 passengers and the bus went out of control and fell down from the expressway.

According to media reports, the bus was coming from Lucknow to Delhi towards Anand Vihar. The drain in which the bus fell is 50 feet below the bridge. Relief and rescue operations have been launched following the incident which is still going on. It was the Janarath bus of the Awadh DP. About 50 people were on board. The incident took place in the Atmadpur police station area. The accident is being reported between 4 and 4:30 p.m.

The cause of the accident is yet to be known, but the driver is said to have suffered a nap.  Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also announced compensation in mourning over the incident. The government has announced a compensation of 5 lakh rupees to the families of the deceased. The CM has asked DM and SSP to provide necessary facilities to the injured.
