Sultanpur: A private bus going from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh to Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh plunged into a ditch in the Kabirdham district. Two minor girls on board the bus were killed in the accident, while 20 other passengers were injured. There were 50 brick kiln workers on board the bus. According to police, the accident took place on Saturday evening at Polmee Ghat near Agarpani village under the Kukdur police station area.  

According to the Kuddur police, more than 50 brick kiln workers were on board the bus. They were going to Bilaspur from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh. It is reported that at a dangerous turn, the driver lost control of the steering of the bus, causing the bus to overturn before falling into a 25-30 feet deep ditch. Police said the deceased girls have been identified as Ragini Sahu (9) and Simran Manjhi (3). Another 20 workers were injured. The driver and conductor of the bus fled after the accident. They are yet to be identified.

On receiving the same information, police rushed to the spot and the injured persons were taken to the primary health centres at Kukdur and Pandaria. Four seriously injured persons have been referred to Kabirdham district hospital. Police officials said a case has been registered regarding the accident. The search for the absconding driver and conductor is on.
