Buttress of trio Congress secured 77 seats creating anti-BJP air

With 77 seats, the Congress has put up its most excellent act in Gujarat since 1990, where it scored only 33 seats. With the help of three young social campaigners, the Congress almost extricate the ruling BJP from its powerful fort.

The trio of social activists Alpesh Thakor, Hardik Patel and Jignesh Mevani who performed a decisive role in generating an anti-BJP air.

Dalit activist Jignesh Mevani won as an Independent candidate from the Scheduled Caste-reserved Vadgam seat with the support of the Congress; Alpesh Thakor won from Radhanpur on the Congress ticket and PASS leader Hardik Patel 24- year old campaigned widely in opposition to the BJP.

The duo of Congress candidates, Kirit Patel from Patan and Lalit Vasoya from Dhoraji were previously coupled with the Hardik Patel-led Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) and both registered win.

The Congress also registered a win in Morbi, Tankara, Jamjodhpur, Kalavad, Becharaji, Unjha, Mansa and Alpesh and Hardik’s hometown Viramgam, in fact, because of the Patidar factor.

Conversely, in the urban Surat, Rajkot and Ahmedabad seats, the Patidars do not become visible to have voted in opposition to the BJP as was anticipated in view of huge rejoinder Hardik Patel’s Public meetings and road shows and Bike rallies had generated there.
