The World Badminton Federation (BWF) has given the Badminton Association of India (BAI) an option to hold the Indian Open Super Series badminton tournament in the vacant stadium. The federation is also assuming that if the tournament takes place then it will have to be held in the empty stadium. The risk of calling people to the stadium cannot be taken. If this happens, it will probably be the first time in the history of the country that a prestigious international tournament will be held in an empty stadium. However, the situation has arisen due to Coronavirus. In it, the federation also has the option to cancel the tournament. The Federation has sought opinion from the Sports Ministry on the organization of the tournament. The final decision on the organization of the tournament is to be made by Federation President Himanta Vishwa Sarma.

According to reports, BAI has written to the Sports Ministry and BWF about the tournament. Negotiations are ongoing with the Ministry on the organization of the Federation's tournament, while the BWF has put the ball in the Federation's court. The BWF has given the option of organizing the tournament in an empty stadium.
For your information, let us tell you that the Federation has been asked to conduct this tournament without an audience in the presence of the umpire and technical official, which will be telecast live. This Olympic qualifying tournament is to be held from March 24 at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium. BAI Secretary General Ajay Singhania admitted that he has got the option to hold the tournament in the vacant stadium, but the final decision on the tournament will be taken by President Himanta Vishwa Sarma in two to three days.
