The voting for the by-elections 2018 is undergoing. The voting is being done for 4 Lok Sabha seats, including the politically- important Kairana in Uttar Pradesh, and 10 assembly constituencies spread across 10 states.
Here are new updates of by-elections 2018:
JHARKHAND: In Silli it has been recorded around 72 percent polling till 3 pm. Final figures may vary after compilation of data.
MAHARASHTRA: After voting was temporarily halted for 35 polling booths due to faulty Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), the Shiv Sena and the NCP alleged malfunctioning in EVMs during by-polls for Palghar and Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, Former Union minister Praful Patel alleged that almost 25 percent of EVMs failed in the by-poll to Bhandara- Gondiya. While Sena leader Sanjay Raut said those in power were fighting elections while keeping the "key and remote of EVMs in their hands".
MEGHALAYA: Ampati Voter turnout reaches 88.58 percent by 5 pm.
UTTAR PRADESH: In the Kairana Lok Sabha constituency over 43 percent polling was recorded till 4 pm while 47 percent votes were registered in the Noorpur Assembly constituency between complaints of EVM malfunctioning.
BIHAR: In Jokihat, 48 percent voting recorded till 4 pm.
UTTAR PRADESH: According to reports, villagers in Shamli resorted to stone pelting on the police for 'fake polling'. The police reacted with lathi-charge at voters in booth no. 173 in Shamli, after a clash between BJP and the Opposition.
JHARKHAND: The EC had announced that polling would end at 3 pm in Naxal-affected Gomia Assembly constituency. EC officials then sealed the EVMs and therefore transported by 3 pm.
WEST BENGAL: In Maheshtala, voter turnout recorded at 67% till 3 pm.
KARNATAKA: 41% votes polled till 3 pm in Raja Rajeswari Nagar constituency of Bengaluru.
PUNJAB: Shahkot records 44% voting till 1 pm. There was no report of any violence from anywhere in the constituency. "The polling has been peaceful," says the Punjab CEO.
