CV Raman has become a scientist who not only gave the world the theory of light but also did many other things that will always be remembered. CV Raman was not only the first Indian to win a Nobel prize in science, but he was also the first Indian to hold a high position in government service. CV Raman was born on November 7, 1888.
In 1906, CV Raman passed the MA exam. He then got a job as a general accountant in the finance department. Raman was the first Indian to hold such a high position in government service. However, he did not do the job for long and resigned from his post in 1917. He then taught as a physics teacher at a new science college in Calcutta. CV Raman was interested in physics from the very beginning and made many discoveries in physics while teaching. In 1922, CV Raman created a monograph called molecular radiation of light. Under this, he researched the dispersion┬аof light. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930 for his research.
Raman was conferred the Bharat Ratna in 1954 by the Government of India for his discoveries and for working in the world of science. He was also awarded the Lenin Peace Prize in 1957. The Government of India had proposed to make him vice president in 1952, but he rejected and continued to do his work in science. He died on November 21, 1970.
