Since the Parliament of India passed the Citizenship Amendment Act, 1741 accused have been arrested so far in Uttar Pradesh in the case of violence. Dr. Kafeel, who gave provocative speeches at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), is coming to Lucknow with STF for three days on transit remand. Dr. Kafeel will be taken to Aligarh from here.

According to media reports, 434 cases have been registered against CAA in 26 districts including Lucknow, Aligarh, Kanpur Nagar, Meerut in cases of violence. The maximum number of 93 cases have been registered in the Meerut zone and 81 cases in the Agra zone. The police is searching for many more named accused with vigor. Investigations are also being made about the accused who escaped after violence in other states. With the help of other investigative agencies, UP Police is continuously increasing the steps of action.

Regarding the matter, STF ASP Satyasen Yadav said that Dr. Kafeel was presented in Mumbai court on Thursday afternoon. The STF team is bringing him here. DIG Law and Order Vijay Bhushan, on the other hand, says that JNU research student Sharjil Imam, accused of treason, caught by the Delhi Police, can be questioned in connection with the violence in Aligarh and other places. Any decision will be taken after completion of the custodial remand period of Delhi Police.
