Since passing from the Parliament of India, there has been continuous opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act. Against this law, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh may knock the door of the Supreme Court against the Allahabad High Court order to remove photo-banner banners and posters from public places in Lucknow. However, no decision has been taken in this regard yet. The final decision in this regard will be taken in consultation with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and according to his instructions only.

On this matter, CM Yogi Adityanath has said that the government is still studying the decision of the High Court. Whatever decision will be taken, 23 crore people of Uttar Pradesh will be taken in the interest. Here, Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Kumar Awasthi held a meeting with officers at Lok Bhavan on Monday to discuss the situation arising out of the High Court order in Lucknow. Lucknow District Collector Abhishek Prakash, Police Commissioner Sujit Pandey and officials of Justice Department were also present in the meeting.

The High Court has summoned the compliance report from District Magistrate Lucknow and Mahanadik on March 16, while ordering the removal of banners and posters with photographs of people protesting against the CAA in Lucknow. In view of the stand of the court, the Additional Chief Secretary Home held a meeting with the officials and discussed various aspects. On the issue of appealing in the Supreme Court, the government will also seek legal advice from the advocates of the top court. On the occasion of Holi, the Chief Minister is in his home district Gorakhpur. The state government has about a week to execute the court order. The final decision is likely to be taken only after the Chief Minister returns to Lucknow.
