Cabinet Approves Declaration of 15th Nov, the Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet today (November 10) approved the declaration of November 15, Birsa Munda's birth anniversary, as 'Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas'. "Week-long celebrations planned from November 15 to 22 to celebrate and commemorate the glorious history of tribal people, culture, and achievements," Union Minister Anurag Thakur told the media at a press conference announcing the Cabinet decision.

Birsa Munda, a Munda tribe member, was born on November 15th, 1875. Birsa, a Munda tribal freedom fighter, religious leader, and folk hero, was an Indian tribal freedom fighter, religious leader, and folk hero. He was the leader of a tribal religious millenarian movement that arose in the Bengal Presidency (now Jharkhand) in the late nineteenth century, during the British Raj, making him a significant figure in Indian independence history. The Munda belt of Khunti, Tamar, Sarwada, and Bandgaon was the epicentre of the revolt. He led an Indian tribal religious Millenarian movement across the tribal belt of modern-day Bihar and Jharkhand during British rule in the late 1800s. In India, his birthday is commemorated as Birsa Munda Jayanti, which falls on the same day as Jharkhand Foundation Day.
