New Delhi: A big meeting is going to be held today under the leadership of the Cabinet Secretary to ban single use plastic. This meeting will be held in the Cabinet Secretariat at 2.30 pm. Apart from the Ministry of Environment, Consumer Affairs, Water Power and Railways, officers of all the concerned departments will attend this meeting.

In this meeting, the cabinet secretary will interact with the chief secretaries of all the states through video conferencing. During this conversation, all the states will be instructed to conduct awareness campaign regarding single plastic ban. According to sources, the government is working on 2 formulas to ban single-use plastic. The first is that awareness campaign should be carried out in the whole country about plastic ban, so that people themselves stop using single use plastic.

The task of spreading awareness among the people has been given to the Ministry of Jal Shakti and another to provide fine and punishment on the use of banned goods so that people do not use single use plastic for fear of penalty. If sources are to be believed, the list of items to be banned is not going to be very large. Initially, the government will ban those items, which is very important.
