The Maharashtra CAG has prepared a report on the 2018-year BMC's drain cleaning and drainage system. The report was tabled in the Maharashtra Assembly on Tuesday. The report cited the Administrative failure of the BMC as the reason. In Mumbai, questions have been raised about the BMC's functioning for monsoon waterlogging every year.

The CAG in its report has highlighted the lapses of the flood disaster management system of the BMC. The construction of drains in Mumbai has been flattened, which has a wide impact on the high tide and low tide. The drains are full of garbage and mud. The drainage tube is below sea level.  Mumbai's 45 drainage drains have doors to throw out floodwater at only three places, allowing the high tide to be controlled at three places.
