Cambodia – Cambodian athletes hailed China on Wednesday for hosting a fantastic Winter Olympic Games, saying that the event would help to develop a worldwide community with a shared future for humanity.

Vath Chamroeun, Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, complimented China on a job well done in hosting the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.

"China has given the world a fantastic Games," he said. "The 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing are a symbol of world peace, friendship, unity, harmony, and collaboration among nations, regardless of political system, religion, or race." Around 2,900 competitors from 91 countries and regions competed in the Games.

The presence of foreign leaders in Beijing for the opening ceremony, including Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Chamroeun added, demonstrated the world's support for the Olympics as well as their desire for world peace and togetherness.

"The Beijing Winter Olympic Games have written a new chapter in the history of world sports," he stated, "and the Games will definitely make more contributions to the Olympic movement and the development of a society with a common destiny for mankind."
