Canada beat Jamaica 4-0 with the help of goals from Sile Lariin, Tazon Buchanan and Junior Hoylet to advance to the World Cup football for the first time in 36 years. Canada had played in the World Cup only once before in 1986.
Midfielder Jonathan Osorio said, "I don't have words. The dream has come true. We all dreamed of it since childhood and being Canadians it was impossible. It's impossible today. It's an incredible feeling.''
Canada missed out on a place in the World Cup last week due to a 1-0 defeat to Costa Rica. This was their first defeat in World Cup qualifying after six wins. Against Jamaica, however, his team dominated from the beginning and has also won an easy victory. Jamaica has already been out of the race for a place in the World Cup.
