New Delhi:- Smoke from wildfires seeped into the Midwest from Quebec, Canada, on Tuesday, leaving Chicago, Milwaukee, and Detroit with the worst air quality in the world. Fires raging through parts of the United States since earlier this month have pushed all three cities into the purple zone of the AQI (Air Quality Index).

Chicago was at level 228 at some point on Tuesday, moving into the purple or "extremely unhealthy" zone, and nearby Milwaukee was at level 221, according to Air Now, a government site that measures air quality.

According to AirNow, a map depicting the current air quality of the United States shows Illinois, Wisconsin, and some surrounding states such as Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, and Michigan as red zones or "unhealthy" zones. It has been shown that some people may be experiencing health hazards.

The east coast of the United States, where wildfires in Canada earlier this month put air quality at risk, now looks mostly clear, but some areas are in the yellow or "medium" zone. Yes, which means air quality is acceptable but can be dangerous for some people.

Midwestern major cities Chicago, Milwaukee, and Detroit are among the worst air quality cities in the world, according to IQ Air, which monitors air quality indexes around the world, along with Dubai, Lahore, and Karachi in Pakistan. ranked higher than Chicago and even topped the list on Tuesday.

Bushfires have prompted many cities to issue air quality warnings this month, urging people, especially those with sensitivities, to stay home. On June 7, smoke from wildfires swept across the United States, engulfing New York City in an orange haze. On that day, the city was ranked second in the world for the worst air quality after Delhi, India. Detroit quickly pushed New York out of second place.

Residents of Chicago woke up Tuesday to feel cloudy skies, according to images from the Weather Channel. The Chicago National Weather Service has declared Clean Air Days on June 27 and 28, urging people in Chicago and Indianapolis to limit their time outdoors. 

According to the Minnesota Pollution Control Department, Minnesota will set a record by issuing 23 air quality warnings in 2023. There are typically two to three per season in the state NASA said Monday that the smoke had spread from Canada across the Atlantic to southwestern Europe. Images from NASA's Terra satellite show smoke over Portugal and Spain, but NASA said the smoke had spread further.

There were 492 fires across Canada as of Monday, 257 of them out of control, according to the Interagency Forest Fire Center of Canada. According to the EU's Copernicus Air Observatory, wildfires in Canada in May and June caused record emissions, and many of the fires show little sign of slowing down. 

The Canadian wildfires have affected the whole of Chicago with a glimpse and are now the worst in pollution happened due to the wildfire that happened recently.
