The Indian tricolor was illuminated on the iconic Canadian landmark of Niagara Falls and a car rally was organized in several cities. Members of the Indo-Canadian community celebrated Independence Day amid restrictions due to the Covid-19 epidemic. At an event organized by the Indo-Canada Arts Council, the hoisting at Niagara Falls was demolished by the Consul General of India Apoorva Srivastava in Toronto. One of the natural wonders of the world, the Falls was illuminated in the colors of the Indian flag in the evening's ceremony. Special illumination was organized in collaboration with the City of Niagara Falls, in collaboration with the Niagara Falls Illumination Board and the Niagara Parks Commission.

The Indian flag was also erected at the City Hall of Toronto, while another attraction, the three-dimensional Toronto insignia, was lit in the tricolor. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated the Indo-Canadian community on the occasion. Trudeau said in a statement issued by his office, "Canada and India have a strong, long-lasting and vibrant relationship between our shared traditions of democracy and pluralism, and deep cultural and people-to-people ties." More than a million Canadians of Indian heritage have made many important contributions to our country. "

Messages were also issued by the premiers of the provinces of Ontario and Alberta, while Indo-Canadian Minister of Public Services and Procurement Anita Anand joined the singing of the national anthem of India, Jana Gana Mana, which was organized by the community in her constituency of Oakville in the virtual program. The Indian flag was raised by Ajay Bisaria at the High Commission in Ottawa and by consulates in Toronto and Vancouver.

The Indo-Canadian community also departed for a series of car rallies, hoisting the flag on their cars, in many cities across the country including Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary and Brampton, while the traditional India Day parade took it digitally. Seeing the adverse effects of the Coronavirus crisis, India's diplomatic missions also marked the day by contributing to relief efforts. The High Commission involved Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson and Indo-Canadian MP Chandra Arya in donating food to the shelter homes. Mission in Toronto collaborated with the community group Canada India Foundation to serve food to seniors in a long-term care facility in Mississauga, a city in the Greater Toronto Area.
