Raipur: The Indian Railways has extended the cancellation of 34 trains running and originating from Chhattisgarh by a month to keep the coal haul uninterrupted. These trains will no longer operate till June 24. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has termed it as a conspiracy to privatise the railways.

Recently, CM Bhupesh Baghel had spoken to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in this regard. Thereafter, 6 trains were restored. The Railways had last month stopped the operation of hundreds of trains across the country to ensure that there was no disruption in transportation of coal to thermal power plants amid the deepening power crisis. These include several trains originating and running from Chhattisgarh.

These trains were earlier cancelled till May 24, which has now been extended to June 24. This will cause problems to thousands of passengers of trains not only from Chhattisgarh but also from the state. The cancellation of trains running from south east and central railway stations will make it difficult to travel from many states. Let us know that the railways had taken this step last month so that there was no hindrance in the transportation of coal to thermal power plants amid the deepening power crisis.
