Her body was handed over to the family the same day. Since the ambulance operator demanded Rs 45,000 for it, they could not immediately take it to their native. So he decided to take it in the same SUV that he had hired to return to his native. Chandrakala’s son, Dattu, told over the phone from Bidar that ambulance drivers demanded Rs 45,000 for transporting the body to their native place Bidar, which is about 1000 kilometers from Manjeri. Fortunately, the body did not suffer much damage though it took over 30 hours to reach here, he said According to the police, some ambulance operators have demanded Rs 45,000, which they could not afford. Since the family had taken a NOC to take the body to the native place they did not seek help to transport the body by an ambulance.
