We are talking about the famous temple of Golu Deity in Almora in Uttarakhand where Aadhaar card is now required to get married. The temple has about 400 weddings every year, i.e. about six weddings a day during the wedding season. Keeping this in view, the temple administration has now made Aadhaar card mandatory to ensure the identity of the person before the weddings are held here.

The move has been taken by the temple administration in order to prevent minor marriages. According to local beliefs, marrying in this temple gives the blessings of Golu deity to the married couple. The Golu deity is worshipped as the god of justice in the Kumaon region. The temple priest and treasurer Hari Vinod Pant said that every year a large number of weddings are held here, making it difficult to check the name and address of the married couple. Therefore, Aadhaar card was made mandatory.
