KALABURAGI: Former Karnataka minister Baburao Chinchansur, who recently joined Congress from the Bharatiya Janata party, was injured in a car accident in the city today, April 15.

It is reported that while Baburao  Chinchansur suffered serious injuries on face and legs, his gunman and the car driver escaped with minor injuries. Chinchansur is undergoing treatment at the United hospital.

NOtably, Chinchansur is contesting from Gurmitkal constituency in Kalaburagi district on Congress ticket.
As per police's statement, Chinchansur was traveling from Yadgir district to Kalaburagi at 1 am after campaigning. Near Akashwani building, his car turned turtle when the driver treied to avoid a big pothole.

The local people rushed to the spot and taken the Congress leader to a hospital in an ambulance. His condition is said to be out of danger and he is responding well to the treatment, doctors mentioend.

Chinchansur is a leader from Koli community and has vowed to defeat Bharatiya Janata party in Hyderabad -Karnataka region. He had played a  key role in the defeat of All India Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
