Srinagar: Nine labourers were killed in a tragic road accident that occurred after a LP truck plunged into a deep gorge on Saturday near Lamayuru Leh on Srinagar-Leh highway.

According to the information received from the sources, the officials say that the LP truck registration number from Srinagar to Leh crashed on Srinagar-Leh highway near Lamayuru, nine non-local labourers travelling by truck died on the spot. SSP Leh said nine non-local labourers have died in the incident. These labourers have not yet been identified, but all the bodies have been sent to the hospital for legal formalities.

In the meantime, the police have registered a case taking cognizance and have started investigating the incident. At least 1 dozen devotees were injured when a jeep overturned in a road near Kutahachi village in the vicinity of Mandi District. The accident has created a sensation in the area. All of the injured are women and 1 child is also involved.
