Annoyed by this incident, world number-10 tennis player Naomi Osaka has withdrawn her name from the semi-finals of the Western and Southern Open WTA Tennis Tournament in New York. He also received the support of fellow players immediately.

Subsequently, the Western and Southern Open tournament games were stopped on Thursday to protest against racial inequality. Now this tournament will start again from Friday. The American Tennis Association, ATP Tour and WTA subsequently issued a statement saying, 'Tennis as a sport is taking collective steps against racial inequality and social injustice in America. Also, the USTA, ATP and WTA have decided to stop playing in the Western and Southern Open tournaments till Thursday, 27 August, realizing the urgency of the time.

NBA, Women's NBA, Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer matches were also canceled due to players demanding social justice. Osaka wrote that the genocide of blacks at the hands of the police is making my situation worse. I know that not playing tennis will not change much. But as a player, if the debate starts, I would consider it a step in the right direction. Osaka further wrote that before being an athlete, I am a black woman. I am tired of all this. When will it stop? With this, Osaka has said his point.
