Caste discrimination and Poor or rich difference should abolish: Union Minister and BJP MP Nitin Gadkari

Pune: On Sunday, Union Minister and BJP MP Nitin Gadkari has said that there is no place for caste in his constituency, Nagpur as he has warned everyone that those who talk about caste will be thrashed. Addressing an event in Pune’s Pimpri-Chinchwad, Gadkari said he does not believe in caste, adding that he does not even know how many castes are there.

The Lok Sabha MP from Nagpur said on a lighter note as  "We don't believe in caste. I don't know how many castes are there at your place but at our place, there is no caste because I have told everyone that I will thrash those who talk about caste,” However, Urging everyone to make a society which is free from caste and communalism, the minister said that no one should be discriminated on the grounds of caste. Gadkari opined “In the society, there should be no discrimination among poor and rich, no one should be of upper or lower caste,".

Exhorting everyone to help the poor and needy one, he said, "We should provide the poor and humble with food, cloth and house. Serving the poor is like serving God.” Speaking at a programme in Mumbai, he had said, “Political leaders show people big dreams, but those who do not keep their promises get beaten up by people. Therefore, one should only commit what they can fulfil.”

Earlier in January, the minister stoked a row after he said that the leaders who don’t deliver on their promises get beaten up. Gadkari has been hogging the limelight for his controversial remarks lately.
