Patna: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has written to non-BJP leaders of the country last Saturday seeking support on the issue of caste census for backward classes. Let me tell all of you that earlier, the Central Government had told the Supreme Court that the caste-based census of the 'Backward Classes' is "administratively difficult and challenging."

On the other hand, if we talk about Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav, he has written to leaders of different parties Nitish Kumar, Sonia Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal in this regard. The letter is said to be addressed to 33 leaders. In fact, Tejashwi Yadav has said in this letter, "For an insensitive government, it is being reiterated that the caste system, which Dr B.R. Ambedkar described as a system of graded inequality" has been a major source of damage for a large part of the population. Let me tell all of you that the Central Government has agreed only for the counting of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, it is a matter of concern for the numerically powerful OBCs. Politics has been dominated by this class in the Hindi belt, especially in Bihar since 1990. On the other hand, Tejashwi Yadav said, "We need to come together and put pressure on the Central Government on the issue of caste census.''

In his letter, he said, "I am ready to consider your suggestions and advice so that we can prepare an immediate action plan on it without delay.'' According to reports, the names of Chief Ministers of non-BJP parties Uddhav Thackeray, MK Stalin, Naveen Patnaik, K Chandrashekhar Rao and Jagmohan Reddy and leaders of political parties not associated with NDA Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati, Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Prakash Singh Badal and Sitaram Yechury have also been linked with a copy of the letter.
