The results of the CAT 2024 - Common Admission Test,  conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, were released on Thursday 19 December 2024. The examination, which took place on 24th November 2024, saw 2.93 lakh candidates participating across 389 test centres in 170 cities nationwide. Out of the top performers, 14 candidates achieved a perfect score of 100%, marking a major achievement in the competitive race for admission to India's top management verticals.

Topper Details

Out of the 14 candidates who secured a perfect 100 percentile, 13 are male, and 1 is female. Maharashtra had the highest number of toppers, with five candidates, followed by Telangana, which had two. The remaining top scorers came from various states, showcasing the diverse talent pool across India.

In addition, 29 candidates achieved a 99.99%, with 28 male and one female. This group also included students from various regions such as Delhi, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. Engineers continued to dominate the top scoring, with most of the high-scorers coming from technical backgrounds.

Exam Format and Timeline

The Common Admission Test 2024 examination was divided into three sections, with each session lasting two hours, and 40 minutes allocated to each section. After the examination, the answer key plus response sheets were released, with the final answer key becoming available on 17 December 2024.

Admissions and Reservation Policy

This year, the Common Admission Test scores will be accepted by 86 non-IIM institutions for their management programs. Candidates should confirm the registration status of these institutions on the official website before proceeding with their application.

A total of 3.29 lakh students registered for the CAT 2024 exam, with 2.93 lakh aspirants from the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) appearing for the test on November 24. Among the test-takers, 36.5% were female students, reflecting a notable representation of women in the competitive entrance examination. Maharashtra emerged as the state with the highest number of candidates, contributing significantly to the total pool of test-takers. This highlights the growing popularity and demand for management education, especially in regions with well-established coaching and educational infrastructure.
