CBI starts investigation on fraud in Patwari recruitment, assigned to DSP

The CBI has started a preliminary inquiry regarding the alleged scam in the recruitment of Patwari in Himachal Pradesh last November. CBI office Shimla has entrusted the investigation to an officer of DSP rank. According to the sources of the Central Investigation Agency, the preliminary investigation will be completed in 3 months. An FIR can be registered only after the concrete facts of the rigging are revealed in the investigation. On 8 January 2020, the High Court ordered a CBI inquiry after the hearing.

According to sources, CBI has also called records from the revenue department. The orders and documents received from the High Court are being closely observed. The Deputy Commissioner of 11 districts will come to the office of the CBI investigation because the process of recruitment of Patwari was being done through the District Deputy Commissioner Office. Around 3 lakh youth of the state had applied for Patwari recruitment. Under this, about 1194 posts are to be filled. Questions were raised about its process only after complaints came from all over the state during the examination.

43 questions out of 100 asked before Tate exam
The questions were also raised by the candidates in the written examination of Patwari. The affidavit filed in the same Director Land Record showed that 43 out of 100 questions were asked from the Tate examination held earlier. On this, the High Court had apprehended during the hearing that some officers took the examination to benefit their loved ones. In view of this, the High Court ordered a CBI inquiry into the case.
