A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) confers a clean chit to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Vyapam scam  and the opposition party Congress on Wednesday said that the investigating agency is working under political stress.

Congress leader K.K. Mishra asserted that CBI is an investigating agency and not a court to confer clean chit to the Chief Minister.

"CBI is an investigating agency which works as per the orders of Supreme Court. CBI is no one to give the clean chit to the chief minister. The trial court will make a decision on this. Chief Minister has himself accepted that Vyapam scam is a scar on his face. The CBI has tried to lie to the Supreme Court by presenting a fake report under political stress. This is disrespect to the top court. The report is to protect the chief minister," he quoted.

Congress leader Pankaj Chaturvedi firmly said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to defend Shivraj Singh.

"The BJP is trying to defend their Chief Minister. The court will decide whether to give clean chit or not.I feel shame for them. CBI is not a court and its statement is the not the final statement," he further added.

The charge sheet filed in a special CBI court gave a clean chit to Shivraj Singh, whose name was heaved into the case by senior Congress leader and Ex CM of MP Digvijaya Singh.
