New Delhi: A senior official of IDBI Bank conspired with liquor baron and owner of this airline Vijay Mallya to get permission and payment of loan to Kingfisher Airlines. This has also been said in the charge sheet filed by the CBI in a Mumbai court.

Vijay Mallya is an accused in the Rs 900 crore IDBI-Kingfisher loan fraud case and his action is being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The central agency has also filed a supplementary charge sheet recently before a special court here. According to the chargesheet, Buddhadeb Dasgupta, former general manager of IDBI bank, allegedly conspired with his associates and Mallya to get approval and disbursement of Rs 150 crore short term loan to Kingfisher Airlines in October 2009 by abusing his official position. Was given

The agency has already named 11 accused in this case. It has also named Dasgupta through a supplementary chargesheet. According to the CBI, the short term loan was sought for a period of 6 months to meet commitments made to foreign service providers. In this, the commitments made with the lessor of the aircraft and other service providers are also being told.

Reports say that Dasgupta had originally envisaged this Rs 150 crore loan as an adjustment to be repaid from the Rs 750 crore loan the airline had initially sought.CBI has to say about this, however, the proposal has been changed to reflect that it is treated as a separate loan by the loan committee itself, the adjustment of which can be (may not be done) paid from the total loan May go.

The total amount given by IDBI in the charge sheet was to be limited to Rs 750 crores, but due to keeping the short term loan as a separate loan at the instigation of Dasgupta, this amount has increased to Rs 900 crores in December 2009.

In the course of the investigation, as per the permission of the CBI court, letters of request have also been sent to Britain, Mauritius, America and Switzerland. In order to provide justice, the court of any country has also taken help from the court of any other country through these request letters. The evidence received from these countries has also been mentioned in the charge sheet.
