Bhopal: There has been a piece of big news about BJP MLA Surendra Patwa, who was a minister in the Shivraj government in Madhya Pradesh. In fact, the CBI has filed a cheating case against him and his wife Monika Patwa. Let me tell you that Surendra Patwa is the nephew of late Sunderlal Patwa, former Chief Minister of the state and former Union Minister. CBI has filed a case against Patwa and his wife under sections including cheating. The duo is said to have committed a fraud of Rs 29 crore with the Bank of Baroda. Let us also tell you that Surendra Patwa is currently an MLA from the Bhojpur assembly seat in the Raisen district.

As part of the information received in the case, CBI has named Patwa couple as well as unidentified public servants as accused in the case, though the CBI team also searched the houses of Surendra Patwa in Indore and Bhopal where several important documents have been recovered. Surendra Patwa has been accused of cheating Bank of Baroda of Rs 29 crore while he was director of M/s Patwa Automotive Pvt Ltd, though his company has now become Bhagwati Patwa Automotive. On the other hand, it is being reported that the Bank of Baroda itself had complained to the CBI regarding MLA Patwa.

In its complaint, Bank of Baroda had said that "during 2014 to 2017, the company had cheated Bank of Baroda of Rs 29 crore. 36 crore was extended by Bank of Baroda on 13th September 2014 after the company availed over credit facility provided by IDBI.'' It further said, "The loan was later declared as NPA on May 2, 2017. After all this, a complaint was lodged by the bank with the CBI.''
