Unnao rape case: CBI shows a progress report to Allahabad High Court

On Monday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a progress report in the Unnao rape case in the Allahabad High Court. The progress reports include the death of the father of a minor girl, who was allegedly raped by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar last year. Court has scheduled next date of hearing is scheduled for May 30.

Earlier, CBI booked BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is in police custody on the charges of rape with a minor girl. According to the reports from ANI, a case has also been filed upon him on charges of criminal conspiracy for wrongly accusing the rape victim's father in another case.

Leading to this, recently, the investigation agency of the case had arrested two sub-inspectors of the Uttar Pradesh Police. They have arrested these inspectors in connection with the death of the victim's father.

In the case, last year on June 4, 2017, the minor girl was allegedly raped by the BJP MLA at his residence. The girl went to the MLA's house seeking for a job when the incident took place. 

On April 3, 2018, the victim's father was booked by the police under the Arms Act. Police officials put him behind bars on April 5, 2018. However, later on the same day, he had been admitted to the hospital and subsequently died the following morning. 

According to the initial records, it claims that the man died of the natural cause. While the autopsy report highlighted the presence of serious injuries on his body.
