New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will probe Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia's bank locker in the liquor scam case at 11 am today. The CBI will search the bank locker by going to Punjab National Bank in Vasundhara Sector 4 of Ghaziabad. During this time Manish Sisodia and his wife will also be present with the CBI team. CBI officials will also be present in the bank. Their lockers will be opened in front of the Deputy CM.

Let us know that the CBI is in action in the case of disturbances in Delhi's famous liquor scam. The agency had earlier raided the residence of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in August. Not only this, the CBI had raided 21 locations in 7 states including the residence of former Excise Commissioner Arava Gopi Krishnan in this case. In fact, in the past, Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinai Saxena had recommended a CBI inquiry. Lg VK Saxena had passed the order following the chief secretary's report. Manish Sisodia's role in this report is in the midst of controversy. Actually, Delhi's excise department is under Manish Sisodia. However, only after the LG's order, the Kejriwal government immediately took a U-turn and announced to implement the old liquor policy back. Now call it fear of investigation or something else but the Kejriwal government is not answering even one of the many questions raised about the liquor scam, while the withdrawal of the new liquor policy has also pushed the Delhi government on the back foot.   

In fact, there are allegations of scams in the new liquor policy. There is also an allegation of giving undue benefit to liquor licensees through this. Rules were violated in granting licences. After the tender, Rs 144 crore of liquor contractors was waived. It has been told in the report that through this policy, the license fees were waived under the guise of the Corona epidemic. Liquor traders benefited in exchange for bribes. It is alleged that the steps taken under the new excise policy have caused a huge loss of revenue and this new policy was brought with an aim to benefit liquor traders.
